Literature Text

VERSE 1 (NEWT)
I was a stranger in a strange land
A chance encounter and everything changed
They told me not to stare at the sun
Now it's too late 'cause I caught sight of you

CHORUS (BOTH)
And now that it's over, I can't help but wonder
What could have been
What could have been

VERSE 2 (TINA)
You had a secret world of your own
You let me in when I was at my worst
And even if you wouldn't quite meet my eye
I couldn't look away from your spot by my side

(REPEAT CHORUS)

VERSE 3 (NEWT)
You know the rulebook inside and out
But you gave it up just to fight for what's right
You've got a wall built all 'round your heart
But you let me see all the softness inside

(REPEAT CHORUS)

VERSE 4 (TINA)
You've got the biggest heart that I know
You take care of everything except yourself
And even if your past's still weighing it down
I hope I've got a place somewhere in there too

FINALE (BOTH)
And now that it's over, I can't help but wonder
What could have been
What could have been
What could have been
An original song for Newt and Tina.
Yes, it does have music. You can listen to an instrumental version here and try to sing along.
(I have neither the guts nor the equipment to record my voice.)

I have no experience as a composer whatsoever, but I had this in my head and it was screaming to get out. No need to tell me I broke a million composing rules, I know I did.
Written with Noteflight, video edited with Stupeflix, lyrics and music by me.

...

THIS IS AMAZING. My goodness, I never realized you were so multi-talented! Lovely (if heartbreaking) lyrics, and trying your hand at composing on top of that! (I may have said this before, but I've never been able to read, much less write, sheet music, even when I was supposed to try, having piano lessons as an older child... how people can write and "see" the music notes in their head like that just blows my mind.)

"Noteflight?" Is that a program that makes musical notes? Does it have instruments besides the piano?
